The Premier League have confirmed via their official website that Jarred Gillett will referee the clash between the Hammers and the Villans on Sunday.
Now, the West Ham fans will be very familiar indeed with the 37-year-old Australian referee, and not for good reasons.
Back in September 2022, we lost 2-1 away at Chelsea, after having a last minute equaliser from Maxwel Cornet pathetically ruled out by VAR. Any guesses for who was on VAR duty that day? You’ve got it…it was Gillett.
What an absolute joke of a decision it was, and it ended up costing us what would have been a valuable point at the time.
The fact that the Australian has been appointed as referee for what is such a crucial game for us is an absolute joke of the very highest order in my opinion.
I believe we need to act like the big clubs in the Premier League and start demanding that certain officials are not allowed to referee our games!
The fact that Jarred Gillett will referee the West Ham vs Aston Villa clash is far from ideal, but we need to make sure that we win the game with or without the help of the Australian.
