Chris Sutton has just launched a stinging criticism of one West Ham United player in particular.
West Ham were hammered 6-0 by Arsenal on Sunday, and swathes of Hammers fans were seen leaving the London Stadium at half-time as a result – something that left the board ‘seriously unimpressed’.
Chris Sutton has been outspoken on the mass exodus from the West Ham fans, labelling those who left early as ‘not real Hammers fans’.
And now the well-renowned pundit has criticised a West Ham player as well, with Kalvin Phillips bearing the brunt of his fury.
The 28-year-old spoke to the media this week about Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola coming out in the summer and saying he was overweight (Daily Mail).

Pep’s outspoken nature on the matter seemed rather harsh, but according to Sutton it is Phillips who should be facing the tough questions…
Chris Sutton launches criticism of West Ham player
Sutton has forged a career for himself as a pundit with a no holds barred approach to his views on the game.
And he lived up to that reputation with his scathing criticism of Kalvin Phillips today, via his official X account:
That sounds like a harsh assessment from Sutton, but a very fair one if you ask me.
Phillips openly admitted that he was 1.5kg overweight, as if it was nothing. Given that he’s a professional athlete though, why on earth was he even in that situation to begin with?
The Hammers loanee is obviously a great player on his day but questions need to be asked now about his attitude. Is the fact that he allowed himself to get out of shape one of the reasons why he didn’t make it with Man City? Maybe.
Chris Sutton made it very clear that West Ham midfielder Phillips should be the one who’s being criticised here, not Pep Guardiola. And I tend to agree with him.
