But Soucek himself has revealed when he expects to be back in the claret and blue.

Taking to social media, the towering Czech estimates it could be just a “few weeks or months” before he is recovered.

“I’ll use these next few weeks/months to work, recover and come back stronger…” Soucek said.

“One thing is certain. I’ll be back. Stronger. Hungrier. More determined than ever.”

West Ham have around six to seven weeks until the season gets underway, that gives Soucek a big chunk of time to start his recovery before the action begins.

According to his own estimation, the former Slavia Prague man – who is known to be a quick healer – should not then be too far away from getting back involved.

The good thing about the Championship is that the games come thick and fast, meaning Soucek will have ample opportunity to be drip-fed back into the swing of things without over-exerting himself.

That will be key because he will be needed for the long haul as the Hammers aim for the Championship title.

West Ham have pledged to provide official updates on Soucek, something the club has not done under the previous regime.
