West Ham United co-owner David Gold has felt the wrath of fans once again.

Gold, his fellow co-owner David Sullivan and their vice-chairman Karren Brady are hugely unpopular with a large section of West Ham’s fanbase.
Supporters have been campaigning – both physically and online – for them to leave before and during lockdown.
Sullivan and Gold have stepped away from the spotlight somewhat in recent years as a result.

Gold continues to rile West Ham fans
But Gold continues to post the occasional message on Twitter.
Whatever he posts, it usually gets short shrift from West Ham fans.
Yesterday, though, he deliberately went out of his way to make a sarcastic response to one Hammers supporter.
With West Ham enjoying their best season for 35 years, Gold decided to dig up a Tweet from nearly one year ago – when the club were flirting with relegation – and post a sarcastic response.

“Thank you. dg,” Gold posted in response to a message from a disgruntled Hammers fan sent to him In March 2020.
The fan had said: “You are the reason we are where we are in the league go back to Birmingham.”
Gold takes plenty of abuse. So many would argue he is entitled to give a bit back.
But the message is just unnecessary and incendiary, especially in the current climate.
It is a cheap shot from Gold and many supporters would argue West Ham are enjoying a superb season IN SPITE of him and Sullivan.
Indeed if the unpopular duo had paid the money to sign one of Moyes’s striker targets after selling Sebastien Haller then West Ham might still be dreaming of lifting a first major trophy for over 40 years.

Fans savage co-owner for incendiary comment
Instead Moyes has just one senior striker in his squad. Something completely unheard of beyond perhaps Sunday league football.
Even the likes of Burnley and Sheffield United have three or four striker options.
So Gold should not be getting too carried away with himself. And there is still a long way to go for West Ham to achieve something noteworthy this season.
After all Hammers fans did not agree to leave their beloved Upton Park for midtable finishes at the London Stadium – even if that would be a decent achievement after last season’s relegation battle.
Gold was savaged by West Ham fans for the post. One supporter perhaps best summed up how Hammers fans felt reading it.
Dennis Watling responded by pointing out Gold does not help the situation between the board and the fans.
“This is why nobody likes you,” the Hammers fan replied.
