A Telegraph journalist has opened up on what he’s hearing about the new position of the West Ham owners over David Moyes.

David Moyes is once again under pressure to keep his job at West Ham.

Exactly a week ago the top source inside West Ham told Hammers News the Scot will be signing a new deal ‘subject to terms’.

Moyes’ Hammers contract expires in the summer. And there was a clamour to extend it after West Ham beat Man United and Arsenal over Christmas.

Telegraph journalist on new position of owners over Moyes

No wins since – in seven games – has completely changed the mood around the club.

And in the boardroom too if reports are to be believed.

It was claimed yesterday that majority owner David Sullivan has effectively given Moyes four games to save his job.

A host of managers are being linked as replacements for the Scot.

Now a Telegraph journalist has opened up on the new position of the West Ham owners over Moyes.

Matt Law has taken to social media about the situation.

‘Ridiculous’

And he has labelled the ownership as ‘ridiculous’.

“A 6-0 defeat is very bad,” Law said.

“But talking about offering somebody a contract on the back of some great form and then stalling six weeks later on the back of some poor form does not demonstrate good strategy or planning.

“It strikes me as a ridiculous way to run a football club.”

Law is entitled to his opinion. And many Hammers fans might agree.

But the owners also stuck by Moyes last season when there was calls for his head.

And their track record shows they do not hire and fire like many other owners.

If the four-game ultimatum is true then it won’t be easy for Moyes or West Ham.

It is Nottingham Forest next. And Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been playing well, especially as an attacking force.

The Hammers then host bogey side Brentford – never an easy game, especially with Ivan Toney back.

Then comes a tough trip to Everton before Burnley visit the London Stadium.

Before the turn of the year West Ham would have relished those fixtures. And they would have been targeting 10-12 points.

Right now it is difficult to see where the next win is coming from.
