It would obviously be an understatement to say that Nuno Espirito Santo hasn’t had the desired effect since replacing Graham Potter as West Ham United manager.
Nuno has recorded only two wins in his 16 games in charge of West Ham and the brilliant job he did at Nottingham Forest now looks like little more than a distant memory.
Indeed, Nuno is under huge pressure at West Ham, and it’s increasingly difficult to see how he turns things around.
Some supporters may feel as if we’re now way beyond the point of blaming who’s in charge for the club’s difficulties.
Out of 10, how CONFIDENT are you that Nuno can still save West Ham?
Beating QPR in the FA Cup is a start…
There’s certainly an argument to suggest that, although that’s not to say Nuno has covered himself in glory.
It feels as if things are coming to a head, so Hammers News recently asked their readers about their level of confidence in the manager.
The response is interesting.

Hammers News posed a rather simple question earlier this week. We asked, on a scale of 1-10, how confident supporters were that Nuno could save West Ham from the drop.
On the slightly more positive side, one supporter wrote: “I’m gonna go 6 but it’s probably heart more than head.”
Another added: “8 out of 10, let’s be positive and believe.”
FILL IN THE GAPS! Who else belongs among West Ham’s worst modern-day signings? 💸
Fullkrug up top? Kilman? What about Kalvin Phillips?
“6/10 I’ve said before that [Pep] Guardiola couldn’t work with most of our players. Don’t see the sense in signing 2 forwards when we need a centre back,” wrote one fan.
A fourth said: “There is a lot of football to be played’ and games remaining. Forest have the distraction of games in Europe. They are playing badly like us. Players returning from AFCON will help. If we buy minimum one expensive, magnificent defender, the ball might stay out of the net. 6/10.”
On the more negative side, one fan simply wrote: “Zero.”
Another said: “I’d give it a 2/10 for his chance of saving us from the dreaded drop. If he can’t get his game management right then we’re done.”

When Nuno could force West Ham into a decision
Nuno’s long-term future at West Ham remains uncertain, although it has sometimes felt as if the writing is already on the wall.
The fact that some still see a chance to improve, however, is interesting. It may feel like the season is drifting away, but there were elements from the Nottingham Forest game that suggested there is something to work with.
Still, Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian has suggested that Nuno could be sacked if his side lose at Tottenham next weekend.
Spurs are hardly convincing themselves, so that isn’t an absolute guarantee by any means.
There will be yet more twists in the tail but as the response from the Hammers News subscribers shows Nuno hasn’t lost all support just yet.
