Star Angelo Ogbonna didn’t like what he heard being said about the players at West Ham of late and insists the team are up for the fight.
It has been a strange old week in the weird and wonderful world of West Ham.
There’s rarely a dull moment when it comes to the Hammers and that has certainly been the case during a rollercoaster six or seven days.
The mood at West Ham has been lifted after two vital wins – either side of that 5-1 thumping to Newcastle – to boost the club’s Premier League survival chances.
The pressure has been intense on manager David Moyes and the players.

Captain Declan Rice has spoken out to insist he and his West Ham teammates are still playing and fighting for Moyes.
The win over Fulham saw the Hammers boss make five changes to the side as he brought back – in his own words – players he could “trust” including the likes of Angelo Ogbonna.
The soon-to-be 35-year-old Italian is like a fine win from his homeland and just gets better with age.
West Ham had their defensive rock back and it showed in the performance as the team defended manfully.
But star Ogbonna says he didn’t like what he heard being said about the players at West Ham and insists the team are up for the fight.
Ogbonna says he did not like hearing the West Ham players having their character questioned during these difficult times.
And he says the Hammers stood up and showed the kind of men they are.

“I think we needed to do something to bounce back and the thing is that I can never say we don’t have character,” Ogbonna told the club’s official site.
“For a long time, West Ham, since I joined this Club, it has shown that character is the main thing and the first thing.
“The old players always show me some things like that and it comes naturally to us. For me, even for the players and for the Club, it was really important.
“The only things I didn’t like was when people were in doubt about our character. I think it’s something in our veins.”
West Ham attentions now turn to Europe and Gent away on Thursday night in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final before welcoming league leaders Arsenal to the London Stadium on Sunday.
