Sorely missed West Ham star Edson Alvarez has lifted the lid on when he will return from the injury which has kept him out of action.

West Ham have not had the greatest start to the new year for a number of reasons.

No wins, dumped out of the FA Cup by a midtable Championship side and a glut of injuries to key Hammers stars has made life difficult for David Moyes.

Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, Edson Alvarez and Michail Antonio have all been injured for West Ham of late.

Moyes has also had to contend with having Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Aguerd away at AFCON.

Alvarez lifts lid on when he will return

There was good news for the Hammers at the weekend when Bowen returned for the draw at Sheffield United.

But there was still no sign of Paqueta, Alvarez or Antonio.

West Ham were boosted this week when Kudus was dumped out of AFCON at the group stages, meaning he will be available for the Premier League game against Bournemouth next week.

Now sorely missed West Ham star Alvarez has lifted the lid on when he will return from injury.

And it is yet more fantastic news for the east Londoners.

‘Back and ready for the next one’

Because Moyes’ crucial Mexican midfield general has taken to social media to reveal he is back in training and will also return to the side for the Cherries clash next Thursday night.

“Back and ready for the next one,” Alvarez posted on his Instagram Stories alongside a picture of himself in full training with the Hammers at Rush Green.

That is absolutely massive for West Ham. Alvarez has established himself as absolutely fundamental for this side and they struggle badly without him.

By the time that game rolls around, El Machin could well have a new midfield partner too.

With the deal for Kalvin Phillips edging closer, it looks likely the pair will form a new-look West Ham central midfield with one of James Ward-Prowse or Tomas Soucek ultimately sacrificed with everyone fit.
