West Ham United captain Declan Rice liked a tweet from Charlie Austin on Twitter defending Jesse Lingard last night.
It seemed for all the world that the 29-year-old was closing in on a return to the London Stadium earlier this week.

David Moyes is desperate to bring the free agent back to the Hammers.
Declan Rice is obviously in the same boat and is very close indeed with Jesse Lingard.
However, many West Ham fans are past it now. Either Jesse wants to come back or he doesn’t. It really should be that simple.

The free agent has received plenty of criticism in recent weeks regarding his social media antics.
There are some critics who say he wants to be a Tik Tok star rather than a footballer.
In all fairness, he is just enjoying his summer, and it seems as though that’s something that Declan Rice concurs with…
Declan Rice likes Charlie Austin’s Jesse Lingard tweet
Lingard has been getting battered from certain sections of the press and from some fans for his social media antics.
Whilst we would all like Jesse to return to the London Stadium quickly and efficiently, it must be remembered that he is a 29-year-old man having fun on his summer holidays.
Who wouldn’t be doing the same at him at his age?

It’s also worth noting that this will be Lingard’s last big contract, so he has every right to take his time when making what is a huge decision for him.
Declan Rice is clearly wants Jesse Lingard back at the London Stadium. The two got on so well during the 29-year-old’s four month loan spell with the club during the 2020/21 season.
Lingard bagged nine goals and four assists in just 16 Premier League games for West Ham.
Jesse Lingard forged an extremely tight bond with Declan Rice both on and off the pitch in East London.
And Dec liked a tweet from Charlie Austin defending Lingard from somewhat of an attack from talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook:
That’s a very good point by Charlie Austin and Dec clearly agrees with him.
The only thing we’d say as a counter argument is that perhaps Lingard should have decided which club he wants to join at the start of the month – and then enjoyed his summer.
We all know juts how good the 29-year-old was for us two seasons ago.
We’d love him back at the London Stadium. Unfortunately for us, that’s not looking like it will happen this summer.
And we reckon that Declan Rice will be hugely disappointed if Jesse Lingard doesn’t return to the club.
