Sebastien Haller’s remarkable record continues with another goal but West Ham fans shouldn’t be bothered

Sebastien Haller left West Ham for Ajax in January for around £20 million.

The big Ivory Cost international has made an excellent start to life in Amsterdam.

The 26-year-old scored another goal for Ajax today and he now has eight goals and six assists to his name in 13 games for the Eredivisie outfit (Transfermarkt).

Haller really struggled during his time at West Ham. Many Hammers fans were glad to see the back of him when he moved to Ajax two months ago.

Some West Ham fans suggested that moving him on was a huge mistake, however, and now they are revelling in the fact that the Ivory Coast international is tearing it up in Holland.

Haller’s fine form proves one thing, however. He quite simply wasn’t suited to the robust and intense nature of the Premier League.

Every time he played for West Ham he looked like a very poor fit for both the club and the league. He isn’t mobile or quick enough.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt ace has a lot of talent. That’s not up for debate. He just doesn’t have enough about him to play that lone front role.

He certainly didn’t do enough at West Ham.

Sebastien Haller succeeding with Ajax shouldn’t worry or annoy West Ham fans

The Dutch league is far more pedestrian than the Premier League. Attackers are afforded space that they would only be able to dream about in the English top flight.

Ajax are totally dominant in Holland. They are currently sitting comfortably at the top of the table with a game in hand. Erik ten Hag’s side regular have at least 60 per cent possession as well.

If there is a league that was built for Haller it is the Eredivisie. Even if he scores a goal a game for Ajax, it will mean very little aside from the fact that he is playing at the perfect club in the perfect league for his abilities.

Another great example of the Eredivisie’s inferiority to the Premier League is Vincent Janssen’s struggles at Tottenham.

Before joining Spurs, he scored 27 goals in 34 league games for AZ Alkmaar. The Dutchman managed only six goals in 42 games for the north London outfit, however (Transfermarkt).

West Ham fans shouldn’t be concerned about the 26-year-old’s success in Holland. If he returned to the London Stadium tomorrow he would experience the same problems he did before in England.

David Moyes made the right call moving him on. As long as West Ham bring in one or two top class strikers in the summer, everyone will quickly forget about Sebastien Haller.
