West Ham United manager David Moyes has quite clearly just been heavily criticised by Rodney Marsh on X.

David Moyes has been under fire from large sections of the West Ham fanbase this season, and now Rodney Marsh has seemingly piled on in.

Marsh caused controversy this time last year, when he labelled the Hammers fans as ‘disgraceful’ for walking out of the London Stadium when we were losing 5-1 to Newcastle.

However, it appears as though the former Fulham, QPR and Manchester City star is on our side this time round.

West Ham have endured a real up and down campaign so far this season. We are currently sitting in seventh spot in the Premier League table and have a Europa League quarter-final clash with Bayer Leverkusen to look forward to.

However, if we get knocked out of Europe by the Bundesliga side and fail to qualify for Europe again, Moyes may well be finished at the London Stadium.

In fact, it has been claimed that the Hammers board are lining up Graham Potter as a potential replacement for the 60-year-old Scot.

The general consensus is that Moyes is holding us back from really pushing on and challenging for the top six.

The Hammers boss is well renowned for playing it safe and prioritising not losing rather than trying to win games.

The thing is, that’s fine when you’re a team who are battling near the bottom of the table, but it doesn’t wash anymore with the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen at the club.

The West Ham fans have grown impatient at times with Moyes’s negative approach to matches, both in the build-up and during the games.

Now it seems as though we have an ally in the form of Rodney Marsh.

Marsh took to his official X account last night to share his ‘unpopular take’:

Marsh is clearly implying here that Moyes should be getting more out of the players he has at his disposal.

And I totally agree with him. I can accept Moyes’s approach to games when we’re playing teams like Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, but not against the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton and Burnley at home.

I truly believe that if we are to make any kind of progress as a team over the next few years, we need a younger, more forward thinking manager with fresh ideas to take us to the promised land.

David Moyes has done a very good job at West Ham over the past four years or so, but Rodney Marsh has hit the nail on the head with his post on X last night.

The Scot has reached a point now where he can’t take us forward anymore unfortunately.
