West Ham United’s task to remain in the Premier League is “difficult”, according to Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Heading into the final four games of the season, West Ham or Tottenham look like the most likely teams to get relegated from the Premier League alongside Wolves and Burnley.

The Hammers, of course, have a two-point advantage over Spurs in the Premier League table, but the margins remain incredibly tight.

While many are tipping Spurs to go down instead of West Ham, De Zerbi believes difficult challenges are on the horizon.

De Zerbi says West Ham face difficult final few games of the season

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, De Zerbi said: “We have to play, we have to fight, we have two points less than West Ham. They have to play a difficult game like us.”

“It’s not the best moment for us, a tough moment, but the losers cry, they think negative and I don’t want people close to me crying or to think a different way than me.”

Clearly, the Italian isn’t just going to give up on his team, despite a less than convincing start to his career there.

Indeed, he is right to point out that West Ham’s final four games of the season look difficult on paper.

Still, the Irons should approach them with confidence. Saturday’s opponents Brentford have not won a game in six attempts.

While they are also still to play Arsenal at home and Newcastle away, the Gunners are nowhere near their free-flowing best, while the Magpies are in crisis.

Then, a home game against a Leeds side who could have little to play for at that point represents a reasonably favourable way to end the campaign.

West Ham have all the momentum in their battle with Spurs and have done for a while now.

The foundations that Nuno Espirito Santo has laid look much stronger than those a few miles north at Spurs.

The key difference between them is that Spurs might pull themselves together. West Ham already have done.

That doesn’t mean they’ll stay up, but it has given them a much better chance to at this stage.
