A report has made a major claim about Tomas Soucek’s West Ham future and gets it oh so wrong after a board source’s recent reveal.
There has – and continues to be – much talk about the place of Tomas Soucek in the West Ham side over the last year.
West Ham’s towering Czech midfielder has looked much more like his old self since Declan Rice’s departure as he is given licence to get forward more.
But on the flip side, the arrivals of Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse – and the fact Lucas Paqueta is clearly a guaranteed starter – is already causing a dilemma for David Moyes.
Especially as the Scot needs to somehow fit his new £38m magic man Mohammed Kudus into the Hammers side too.

Report makes major claim about Tomas Soucek’s West Ham future and gets it oh so wrong after board source’s recent reveal
To those outside the West Ham news cycle, one look at a football data site such as Transfermarkt would suggest Soucek’s future is up in the air as it shows his contract expires next summer.
But it seems that one football news website in particular has not been keeping up with the midfielder’s actual situation.
Because a report has made a major claim about Soucek’s West Ham future and gets it oh so wrong after a board source’s recent reveal.
Football Insider has claimed West Ham are eyeing Celta Vigo midfielder Fran Beltran as a replacement for Soucek.

Football Insider misses inside information
The report states ‘Soucek is out of contract next summer and has yet to agree an extension’.
But that’s not the case.
Not according to West Ham board confidant Sean Whetstone who claimed earlier this month that Soucek has agreed a new four-year deal which is yet to be formally announced – for reasons unknown.
West Ham have been working on several new contracts behind the scenes and have got Soucek and Michail Antonio signed up to extensions with Jarrod Bowen and Vladimir Coufal reportedly next in line.
Whetstone counts West Ham vice-chair Karren Brady and majority owner David Sullivan among his sources inside the club.

Soucek has already signed a new deal as Moyes faces up to midfield dilemma
And he confirmed a few weeks ago that Soucek actually signed his new deal with the Hammers back in August.
West Ham boss Moyes does not believe contract extensions are particularly newsworthy and has spoken out before about whether it is even necessary to communicate them outside of the organisation.
Like Soucek there has been no official announcement over Antonio’s new deal either.
Perhaps West Ham are waiting to get the Bowen and/or Coufal deals tied up before making a joint announcement? Or perhaps, in line with the way Moyes likes to play these things, they may not make any official announcement at all.
One way to find out for the masses is for journalists who have the privilege of being at West Ham press conferences to ask the question.
