West Ham United reportedly could sign Piotr Zielinski from Napoli in the summer transfer window for a reduced fee.

That’s according to a report from Calcio Mercato who claim that West Ham may well sign Zielinski, 28, if we remain in the Premier League this season.

David Moyes will need to bolster his attacking midfield ranks at the London Stadium in the summer, with Manuel Lanzini and Nikola Vlasic likely to leave.

Zielinski was someone who the Scot tried to being to West Ham in the summer, before signing Lucas Paqueta.

In fact, it is claimed that we had a £35 million bid rejected for the 78-capped Poland international (Calcio Mercato).

And now, the Hammers could get the Napoli ace on the cheap…

West Ham can sign Zielinski for reduced fee

Calcio Mercato reckon that the Hammers are well in the race to sign the Poland international this summer.

West Ham will obviously have to retain our Premier League status in order to have any chance whatsoever of signing him.

He really would be a hugely exciting signing for West Ham.

I think that the Pole would be a massive upgrade on Tomas Soucek. Having said that, I do feel as though David Moyes should be targeting a younger model.

Zielinki will be 29 in May after all.

In spite of that, and for the here and now, the 28-year-old is undoubtedly a huge talent. He has the kind of ability that would definitely take West Ham’s attacking play to another level.

Zielinski bagged eight goals and five assists in 42 games for Napoli last season and in the 2020/21 campaign, he racked up 10 goals and 13 assists in 47 games. This term, he has bagged seven goals and nine assists in 35 games (Transfermarkt).

In 35 Serie A outings last season, the Poland international made 36.1 passes on average per game and recorded an impressive completion rate of 84.8%. He also made an average of 1.4 key passes per match (Who Scored).

Former Poland manager Paulo Sousa described the Napoli midfielder as ‘exceptional’ (The Guardian). Meanwhile, The Daily Star labelled him as ‘incredible’.

If West Ham sign Zielinski for a decent fee this summer, somewhere in the region of £25 million, I think it will be a great deal for the club.
