A new report has lifted the lid on the highly unusual reason why Jesse Lingard is loving life at West Ham United.
Lingard has been sensational since signing on loan for West Ham from Man United in January.
His signing raised eyebrows but has proved a stroke of genius from David Moyes.
West Ham desperate to keep loan sensation Lingard
Lingard is officially the best January signing in Europe’s top five leagues having hit eight goals and laid on four assists in just nine games.
Speculation has been rife over Lingard’s future beyond this season. West Ham are desperate to keep the 28-year-old. But Man United are said to be keen to offer him a new deal. And a host of other clubs are also interested.
According to Claret and Hugh Lingard will turn down a new Man United contract and has his heart set on West Ham.
Now a new report from The Evening Standard has backed up claims that Lingard is loving life at West Ham.
The report lays out West Ham’s plan to keep Lingard. And it reveals one of the key reasons for the attackers scintillating form and new found happiness is his apartment high above London.
Report lifts lid on highly unusual reason for Lingard’s amazing Hammers form and happiness
“That determination to sign him (in January) will not be lost on Lingard or those around him,” The Evening Standard reports.
“The England international has been given trust and a platform by West Ham and Moyes and he has rewarded them in magnificent style, leading their unlikely push for the Champions League.
“For a player who believes strongly that a good environment is vital for producing strong performances, the move has proved a perfect fit.
“Lingard has spoken about how living high in his apartment block in the capital has improved his mindset and helped his form, while he has struck up strong relationships with other players in the squad in a short period of time.”
Indeed it is true Lingard feels strongly about having a positive environment around him.
He recently told beIN Sports that he prefers his apartment in London to his house in Manchester.
Man himself reveals how he prefers London living
“I think environment is a big thing,” Lingard told beIN Sports.
“My house in Manchester is low down, you go down into the kitchen, it’s dark and in like a bunker.
“You being in that environment week in, week out, you know nothing else.
“Since I’ve moved to London I’m in an apartment where I’m high. There’s lots of light, I can see all the buildings in London, it makes you more bright and fresh.”
West Ham are certainly bright and fresh with Lingard in the team.
And Hammers fans will be hoping that is still the case come next season.
