West Ham United’s Premier League fate all comes down to a game they are not even playing in.
Following Sunday’s dreadful defeat to Newcastle United, West Ham are on the verge of being relegated from the Premier League.
Indeed, the Premier League table does not make for kind reading for West Ham United fans.
How do YOU feel about Jarrod Bowen as a West Ham United captain….
Clearly a legend but a few dissenting voices 👀
Two points behind bitter rivals Tottenham – the only other team who can be relegated this season – with only two games to play, things are looking very bleak indeed.
Here’s what Chelsea’s Premier League game against Spurs means for them.
If Chelsea beat Tottenham
Chelsea beating Tottenham is the only realistic way that West Ham can avoid relegation on Tuesday.
That would mean Nuno Espirito Santo’s side go into the final day of the season two points behind Spurs.
We are all but relegated — how would you feel about keeping Nuno in the Championship? 🧑💼
Or was that performance the last straw? 😡
Should that happen, West Ham beating Leeds and Spurs losing to Everton next weekend would see the Irons stay in the Premier League.
If Chelsea draw with Tottenham
A draw between the two clubs would not officially relegate West Ham but it may as well.
Spoils being shared at Stamford Bridge would mean that West Ham could match Tottenham’s point tally by beating Leeds should Spurs lose to Everton (39).
However, the fact that Spurs boast a much better goal difference effectively counts as another point.
There would need to be a 13-goal swing on the final day to ensure West Ham stay in the Premier League if Spurs draw with Chelsea, which simply isn’t going to happen.

If Chelsea lose to Tottenham
Spurs beating Chelsea would officially relegate West Ham, as it would move them five points clear with only three left to play for.
While Spurs do have a miserable record at Stamford Bridge over the years, this version of Chelsea is not quite the force of old.
The Blues would no doubt love to make things difficult for their rivals but have endured a largely miserable season and are coming off an FA Cup final defeat.
