Raging Declan Rice is craving quick redemption against Fulham as West Ham have a very real chance of jumping up to 13th.
With the dust still settling on the abomination of a performance in the 5-1 defeat to Newcastle, West Ham attentions now turn to Fulham.
The nature of West Ham’s loss at home to Newcastle was worrying. And it was very damaging for the Hammers’ goal difference too.
But make no mistake, anyone watching Newcastle’s match against Man United prior to their visit to the London Stadium will know the Magpies should have beaten the Red Devils by a similar margin.

West Ham must move on quickly from the horror show because Fulham is a game they must be looking to win.
The Cottagers will be without star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and manager Marco Silva. They are in no man’s land in the middle of the Premier League with a European spot now extremely unlikely given the loss of their main goalscorer.
So this is a huge chance for West Ham to pick up only their second away win of the league season.
Credit to Declan Rice for fronting the cameras after the defeat to Newcastle. Of course he is obliged to as captain. But he gave lengthy interviews and tried to remain positive.

Many of West Ham’s relegation rivals have tough assignments this weekend.
Southampton have Man City, Wolves have Chelsea, Everton have Man United away and Forest face Aston Villa on the road too.
There are two relegation six-pointers with Leicester taking on Bournemouth and Palace facing Leeds, meaning points will be dropped.
The highest West Ham can go this weekend is 13th with a win over Fulham.

And Rice is raring to go, telling the club’s website he would have played the very next day after Newcastle if he could in a bid to make things right.
“The beauty of football is we’ve got another game Saturday, against a good side,” Rice said after the Newcastle defeat on Wednesday night.
“We’ll be ready, I’m ready already, if I could play tomorrow I would and I’m sure most of the boys would. Because I want to put it right. The lads want to put it right. The manager wants to put it right and ultimately we want three points again, we want that winning feeling and hopefully we can get that on the weekend.”
Newcastle needs to be parked now and left at the bottom of the well.
The only focus is three points at Fulham. Do that and West Ham will probably need just two more wins to secure survival.
Rice is in a seriously determined mood. Let’s hope his teammates are too.
