It’s looking like Julen Lopetegui will be sacked by the West Ham board later today, but Paul Merson is in the minority with his view on the situation.
The vast majority of the Hammers board are said to be in favour of sacking the Spaniard.
That’s no surprise really is it, given his poor performance since taking over at the London Stadium.
Lopetegui has failed to live up to expectations in East London, and I firmly believe that it’s time for a change.
Graham Potter is being heavily linked with the West Ham job, and it seems like Lopetegui’s days at the club are up.
Now Merson has weighed into the situation with a fairly spicy take.

Merson is well known for sharing his controversial opinions.
And his latest take on the Hammers was baffling to say the least.
Paul Merson spoke to Sky Sports on Thursday, and delivered his take on the current situation at West Ham.
The Sky Sports pundit said, “There’s one thing for sure as a manger, there’s only one thing that gets you the sack, and that’s the fans. The fans get the sack. It’s very rare that fans are singing your name when they get sacked. This is a big, big football match (West Ham vs Wolves).“
I’m sorry, but Lopetegui only has himself to blame.
Yes, the fans have turned on him now, but whose fault is that? The Spaniard has proven to be clueless in every aspect of the game.
Not only have the performances and results been awful, but he’s allegedly fallen out with numerous players behind the scenes as well.
The sooner Lopetegui leaves the London Stadium the better, as far as I’m concerned.
