Wolves make offer to ‘genius’ with 39.5% career win rate but he wants West Ham job

Wolves and West Ham United are both said to be on the hunt for a new manager.

Gary O’Neill and Julen Lopetegui have both flattered to deceive at Wolves and West Ham respectively this season.

And it seems like both the Hammers and Wolves are chasing the same man.

A significant majority of the West Ham board are said to be in favour of sacking Lopetegui.

It feels like the 58-year-old’s days at the London Stadium are numbered.

Lopetegui has failed desperately to improve our playing style, and the results have been very poor as well.

That’s a disastrous combination for any manager coming into a new job.

It’s clearly time for change at West Ham, and it seems as though we’re on the cusp of that happening.

Wolves make offer to Graham Potter but he wants West Ham job

Graham Potter is a name currently being heavily linked with replacing Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United.

Simon Jordan has suggested that Potter would be a bad fit for the Hammers, but I really don’t agree with him.

And now it seems like he could be the next West Ham boss,.

According to a report from talkSPORT, Potter would prefer to take over at West Ham rather than Wolves, after the Black Country outfit made contact with his representatives.

A sack decision is set to be made imminently on Lopetegui, and it’s not looking good for the Spaniard.

Potter could well be the man to come in and oversee real progress at the London Stadium.

Described as a ‘genius’ by The Athletic, Potter certainly has the tools needed to take the Hammers to another level entirely.

However, his career win rate of just 39.5% will undoubtedly raise some eyebrows (Footy Stats).

If Potter is given time, I have no doubts that he would be able to win many more matches than he would lose in charge of West Ham, and here’s why.

The Hammers squad is far superior to the teams he has managed in the past, aside from Chelsea.

And with the likes of Carlos Soler and Lucas Paqueta, he would have the perfect options in midfield to help him implement his possession-based style.

During his time at Brighton, his team struggled to put the ball in the back of the net, in spite of the brilliant football they played.

So that’s something he will have to work on. Whether that means getting the best out of Niclas Fullkrug or signing a new striker remains to be seen though.

Graham Potter clearly sees the West Ham job as a more glamorous option than Wolves, and I really don’t blame him.

The future could be very bright at the London Stadium under Potter in my opinion.
