Paul Merson has made a surprise two-goal Tottenham vs West Ham prediction ahead of Sunday’s huge Premier League clash.

West Ham United desperately need a big result against Tottenham this weekend, as the relegation battle begins to really heat up.

David Moyes is under intense pressure, and any kind of positive result away at Spurs will be a big positive for him and his players.

Tottenham are the clear favourites, and most people will be backing the home side to win the match. Paul Merson its not one of those people though…

Paul Merson predicts Tottenham vs West Ham

The well-renowned football pundit wrote his regular prediction column for football website Sportskeeda.

And Merson explained why he feels it will be a tight game, with both clubs sharing the spoils in North London:

“Tottenham did pretty well against AC Milan and they kept the scoreline down to 1-0. They were never going to win that game, if I’m being honest. If Tottenham could play against City every week at home, they’d be all right. They’d sit back and play on the counter. West Ham are a pretty good team and on their day, there’s not a lot between these teams. Both these sides are a bag of revels. In a game like this where Tottenham need to go and get a win, you don’t know what you’re going to get. They could win this game by a 3-0 margin or play out a draw, and no one would be shocked. It’s a pundit’s nightmare. I would be shocked if they lost, however, because they set up to avoid defeat in Premier League matches.”

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 West Ham United

I would take that all day long and twice on a Sunday!

I must say though, there have been signs off improvements in recent weeks, and it wouldn’t be the biggest shock in the world, if the Tottenham vs West Ham clash ends in a draw.

Let’s hope that Paul Merson has called this one spot on or even better, we manage to nick a win against our fierce rivals.
