Pablo Felipe injury progress confirmed amid Callum Wilson’s struggles for West Ham

The good news for West Ham United is that Pablo Felipe appears to be making progress on his return from a calf injury – and just at the right time after watching Callum Wilson labour against Fulham.

Now, Wilson has provided a decent haul in front of goal this season (5 in 10 starts) and, if West Ham United stay in the Premier League, the decision to sign him will look inspired.

What is the BEST and the WORST thing you’ve seen from Pablo Felipe so far?

Still, Wilson appeared to admit he struggled against Fulham, which anyone watching would surely have agreed with.

That isn’t to say that Wilson hasn’t and can’t continue to play a big part in Nuno Espirito Santo’s survival bid here in east London – just that West Ham are missing Pablo.

With that in mind, a recent update from the West Ham head coach is promising.

Indeed, Nuno was asked about the forward during his pre-match press conference ahead of Monday’s FA Cup clash against Brentford.

He said: “We’re still assessing him day by day. He’s improving a lot, so we’ll keep assessing him, and see how it goes.”

OK, this might actually be happening… 🤯

That is a major boost for the club, even if somewhat vague. West Ham have won only one of the five games the 22-year-old has missed, and they have sometimes lacked energy in attacking areas.

It remains to be seen when the former Gil Vicente forward does actually return from his calf injury.

Last month, reports suggested that Pablo’s calf injury could keep him out of action until the end of March

After the round of fixtures across the 21st and 22nd March, club football is paused as the international calendar returns ahead of the World Cup.

Pablo might not be the most convincing in front of goal but there’s little doubt that West Ham have missed him and Nuno’s squad will be stronger once he returns.

Like Taty Castellanos and Wilson himself, Pablo has made a real impact in east London.
