Opta supercomputer makes final Premier League relegation prediction for West Ham and Tottenham

It all comes down to what happens in the space of a few short hours on Sunday for West Ham and Tottenham in a truly dramatic Premier League relegation battle.

The maths involved are simple. West Ham United must beat Leeds and rely on Everton beating Tottenham if they are to stay in the Premier League.

This relegation battle has taken so many twists and turns in the last few months that it would be foolish to rule out one final development towards the bottom end of the Premier League table.

Nuno wants to make YOU proud – so where do you think we finish in the table when all is said and done on Sunday?!

The nerves are palpable here in east London and no doubt for West Ham supporters beyond its reaches.

With that in mind, here’s a look at one final prediction from the infamous Opta supercomputer

West Ham handed 85.5% chance of relegation, Spurs 14.5%

West Ham are statistical favourites to get relegated and Opta’s updated analysis reflects that.

They hand West Ham a huge 85.5% chance of relegation, while they only rate the likelihood of Spurs dropping into the Championship at 14.5%.

Pretend you’re Nuno – what changes are you making ahead of Leeds? 👀

If anyone says keep the back five, I'll be shocked 😂

It is difficult to disagree with that, but it does not mean West Ham are without hope.

Certainly, there are reasons to believe that West Ham will stay up instead of Tottenham. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have twice had the opportunity to effectively seal West Ham’s fate in recent weeks and have taken neither of them.

The fact it has even come down to the final game of the season is telling. Spurs cannot seem to pull away, while West Ham continue to stumble into conditions that may yet keep them in the Premier League.

All hope is not lost just yet. Trying to put too positive a spin on the situation would be foolish, but it’s important to focus on things supporters can still cling onto.

The story has not been written yet. It’s going to be a very long Sunday for all involved…
