West Ham United do not have the luxury of being masters of their own destiny in their relegation battle with Tottenham, but there are genuine reasons to believe a perfect storm is unfolding.

Indeed, West Ham United are heavy favourites for relegation heading into the final day of the Premier League season, with Spurs currently two points ahead.

On Sunday, West Ham must beat Leeds while hoping Everton – now in the hands of former Irons coach David Moyes no less – beat Spurs.

Clearly, there are a lot of moving parts to this season, but there are three genuine reasons to believe it could happen.

West Ham’s home form is impressive

Given the last two away performances, it’s easy to forget that West Ham’s home form has generally been good in recent months.

They did lose to Arsenal last time out but that was a tight game against the champions, and one only decided by perhaps the most controversial VAR call in Premier League history.

Pretend you’re Nuno – what changes are you making ahead of Leeds? 👀

If anyone says keep the back five, I'll be shocked 😂

The London Stadium clearly brings its own problems but the Arsenal defeat was West Ham’s only loss there in their last six games. Prior to that, they’d won consecutive games here in east London.

Everton’s brilliant away form heading into Spurs clash

Those hoping Moyes does his old charges a favour might be in luck here.

Only Arsenal (10) and Manchester City (9) have won more away games than the Toffees this season (7). Recent results on the road have gone against them but they are certainly due a big performance to round off the season.

Generally speaking, there are few better teams to rely on winning away from home than Everton this season.

Nuno’s personal record against Leeds

In six matches against Leeds, Nuno has led his team to victory four times – albeit the two defeats he has tasted have come during his managerial tenure here in east London.

One of those, however, came in an FA Cup penalty shootout after his team had clawed their way back from two goals down.

There are not many teams Nuno has routinely beaten as consistently over the years than Leeds United.

That is yet another promising omen heading into a game that West Ham simply must win. There is something to cling onto at least…
