British Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson has mocked West Ham United in a viral social media post.

Hodgkinson’s comments came in response to the Hammers’ dispute with World Athletics over the London Stadium.

President Lord Sebastian Coe wants the East London club to vacate the stadium for the 2029 World Championships.

Britain’s top athlete, Hodgkinson, has now made her feelings clear on West Ham’s controversial stance.

Good idea or is all hope for an atmosphere lost anyway?

West Ham have so far refused to entertain Coe’s plan for the London Stadium to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships.

The event would require the Hammers to leave the stadium for three weeks at the start of the 2029/30 football season.

The club have a “contractual right” to prioritise football, so they have no obligation to accommodate athletics.

However, many people will feel that West Ham should not prevent London from hosting one of the biggest sporting events.

The British athletes would certainly appreciate the Hammers stepping aside to let them compete on home soil.

Among those is 800-metre gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson, who took a brutal swipe at West Ham’s trophy cabinet.

“The GB team will bring back more medals to that stadium than West Ham have seen in their entire history,” she tweeted.

Even though it was clearly a joke, the Hammers might not appreciate being mocked in front of millions online.

Hodgkinson’s statement was also not strictly true, as Team GB won seven medals at the last World Championships (one gold).

Meanwhile, West Ham have 48 honours listed on the club website, including three FA Cups.
