No place for Jarrod Bowen as West Ham close in on £26m winger deal, in majorly bizarre claim

Jarrod Bowen is unquestionably West Ham United’s best and most consistent player, by a long way.

West Ham signed Jarrod Bowen from Hull City way back in January 2020 for around £20 million, and he has already established himself as a club legend.

The 27-year-old has bagged 60 goals and 39 assists in 202 games in all competitions for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).

Bowen was in stunning form this season just gone, and was reward for his magnificent performances for West Ham with a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s 33-man England squad for EURO 2024.

That squad will be cut to 26 players, but the general consensus is that the former Hull ace will not be one of the players who are culled from the group.

And rightly so. Bowen has reached a whole new level over the past year or so, and he’s now classed as one of the Premier League’s most feared attackers.

Bearing that in mind, the latest claim about the right-footed left winger really is head-scratching to say the least…

I believe that Bowen will improve even further still next season, and reach new heights for the Hammers.

He is a pivotal figure for West Ham – the cornerstone of our team, and someone who Lopetegui will surely be planning to build his side around.

That’s what makes the latest report coming out of Nigeria so strange…

According to Nigeria Soccernet, West Ham are intent on signing Atalanta ace Ademola Lookman to play in the left wing position for around £26 million this summer.

As a result, the report claims Lucas Paqueta will play centrally in the number 10 position, betting enquiry pending of course.

Then, Nigeria Soccernet claim Mohammed Kudus will play out wide on the right for the Hammers.

So where does Bowen fit in to all of this? His best position is out on the right wing, so if Kudus is playing there, the report is implying that Jarrod will be off.

Obviously this will no be the case, and he will play a key role for us next season. The fact that the report omitted Jarrod Bowen from the West Ham lineup for next season completely diminishes any kind of credibility it may have had.

And then that leads me to think that we’re not actually in for Lookman in the first place. Only time will tell I guess.
