Newcastle United have received a definitive answer from West Ham star Jarrod Bowen over a big money move to St James’ Park.
West Ham missed out on an £85m pay day when former Newcastle target Lucas Paqueta was officially charged by the FA over illegal betting accusations.
No club is more restricted than the world’s richest – Newcastle – when it comes to PSR rules.
But the Hammers have been struggling to make the signings they had planned as a result of not being able to offload Paqueta in a move to Man City.
That has given rise to speculation one of West Ham’s other prized assets could be sold instead.
Those being Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez and top scorer Jarrod Bowen.
Earlier this month Northern Echo journalist Scott Wilson claimed Newcastle United were confident of signing Bowen from West Ham this summer.

Wilson reported that Bowen is Eddie Howe’s number one target for their right-attacking role.
The report claimed a big money move will be sent to West Ham by Newcastle’s Saudi owners ‘later in the transfer window’.
Wilson stated at the time: “There is a belief within the corridors of power at St James’ Park that a deal could be possible.”
Hammers News spoke to the top source inside West Ham about that claim.
And the Hammers spokesman issued an emphatic seven-word response.
Given the report claimed the bid will come ‘late in the window’ the spectre of mega rich Newcastle still hangs over the London Stadium.
Now there has been a hugely significant development.

Bowen proposed to girlfriend Dani Dyer – daughter of West Ham fanatic Danny Dyer – on their summer holidays.
Now it has been revealed the couple have purchased a £3m mansion near West Ham’s training ground – opposite that man Paqueta.
Bowen and Dyer look to be setting down roots for the future – just as the West Ham star did by penning a new seven-year contract last season.
The engaged couple have set themselves up for the future with the purchase of the beautiful mansion near to Rush Green.
The luxurious seven-bed home is situated in Emerson Park and boasts a high-specification finish.
It has a swimming pool and gated driveway.

The TikTok account Crazy Cribs posted a video about the property, which fans can see in the post at the bottom of this story.
If the insistence from West Ham that Bowen won’t be sold and the player buying a £3m mansion near the club’s training ground doesn’t put paid to the rumours of a move to Newcastle – or anywhere else for that matter – then nothing will.
But for the avoidance of doubt, after signing his new deal until 2030 last term, Bowen said he wants to retire at West Ham.
“This means everything to me,” Bowen said about signing his new deal.
“When I was a little boy, I just wanted to play football at the highest level, and this club gave me the opportunity when no one else wanted to.
“Without this club, I wouldn’t have played for my country and I wouldn’t have scored the winning goal in a European final. So I think it’s only fair that I repay that faith.
“I want to stay here and I want to stay here for the rest of my career. This is a sign of that. It’s been a long time and there’s been a lot of talk, but it’s finally over the line and to get it done before I go away (with England) is so special.”
