‘Missing’ West Ham star Lucas Paqueta’s extended absence explained as fans voice concern amid recent transfer speculation.
Some West Ham fans have been growing increasingly concerned about Lucas Paqueta in pre-season.
West Ham fans were perturbed when shock rumours of a £70m bid from Newcastle for their Brazilian magnifico emerged last month.
Especially as it came at the same time Paqueta suddenly changed agents, leaving the representatives who brokered his move to West Ham.
There was then talk of interest in West Ham’s new star player from mega rich PSG too.
At the time it was claimed ‘there are worries Paqueta may be looking for a West Ham exit’ with his actions.
It is fair to say the scintillating form of Paqueta in the last few months of the season softened the blow of the prospect of life without Declan Rice at West Ham.
Paqueta dropped a big hint over his West Ham future last week when the Hammers made a welcome official announcement.
But when Paqueta was not present or named when West Ham revealed their international players had returned to pre-season training on Monday, it sparked new worries that there may be issues behind the scenes.

West Ham had an extra long season which culminated in that famous night in Prague on June 7th.
After that the club’s international players went almost immediately off to represent their countries all over the globe.
Brazil played Guinea and Senegal on June 17th and 20th. They won 4-1 and lost to Senegal 4-2 with Paqueta scoring in the defeat.
But he was also injured in that game, coming off with a new shoulder issue. While his teammates then went off on their holidays, Paqueta had to remain with the Brazil team doctors and physios for treatment.
So West Ham extended his holiday time, giving the midfielder his allotted three-week break from around June 28th.
Fans following Paqueta on social media will have seen he has been on a big family holiday to Florida, taking in Disney with his young children.
And he posted yesterday saying ‘last day back home soon’.
Paqueta is expected to return to Rush Green on Wednesday or Thursday to co-incide with the rest of the squad as they fly back from Australia.
So West Ham fans can relax, there is nothing untoward surrounding his extended absence.
