Newcastle United reportedly want to sign Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United this summer.

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta is on the radar of Newcastle according to Fichajes, and the Toon are ready to make a €70 million (£60 million) bid for the Brazilian.

A report coming out of Spain suggests that the Toon could swoop in and sign the South American star this summer.

They are allegedly preparing a £60 million bid for Paqueta, and with his countryman Bruno Guimaraes already at St James’ Park and Champions League football on offer, there is every reason to be concerned about Newcastle poaching one of our best players.

However, I just can’t see Paqueta leaving West Ham just yet. He seems more than happy at the London Stadium and with Declan Rice set to leave, he will be our talisman next season.

Even if the Hammers were to sell the 25-year-old, it would need to be for a lot more than £60 million – we paid £51 million for him last summer after all.

If Newcastle come in for Lucas Paqueta this summer, I’m sure West Ham will just bat them away. However, the problem the Hammers could face is the Toon’s incredible wealth. If they keep knocking, who knows, West Ham might just let them in.

I’m praying that is not the case though. The Brazilian is a superb player and Moyes will need to keep him around, if he is to guide us to any kind of success over the next few years.
