Michail Antonio has just shared a truly baffling response to Thilo Kehrer leaving West Ham United.
Monaco signed Thilo Kehrer from West Ham on loan for the rest of the season with an obligation to buy him in the summer, and Michail Antonio has now opened up on the German’s exit.
Kehrer has barely played under Hammers boss David Moyes this season, and the 27-year-old admitted yesterday that the number one reason he left the London Stadium was so that he could play more regularly leading up to the Euros this summer.
The German has played just 391 minutes of action so far this season, with only 18 of those coming in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).
I don’t blame Kehrer for leaving, but I also don’t blame Moyes for letting him go – the defender is just not quite good enough to play in the Premier League in my opinion.
Antonio’s reaction to the former PSG man leaving the London Stadium was a really strange one though…

Michail Antonio makes Thilo Kehrer admission
The Hammers hitman reckons that he hasn’t been following any kind of football news this season.
When speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Antonio suggested that he didn’t even know Kehrer was leaving until the day before yesterday:
“I have just heard about it now, when you said it to me. So I can’t tell you a single thing, honestly. This is the first year where I have not paid any attention to Twitter or anything, I have not paid attention to which players are coming in. This morning I went to training and it wasn’t until after training I realised there wasn’t a player training, there was a guy off doing his medical. I was like oh he’s going. It’s one of those things where things just happen and the players don’t have a clue what’s happening, especially at West Ham where a lot of the time I’m very surprised as normally things get leaked before it happens 95% of the time, it’s the first quiet window I’ve had in nine years I’ve had at West Ham.”
I’m just not sure I believe that. I know Antonio has been injured since mid-November, but he still would have been in and around the squad at Rush Green.
Players talk, an there is absolutely no way that he wouldn’t have heard about Kehrer’s potential exit from the club…surely?!
Michail Antonio would have know full well that Thilo Kehrer was linked with a move away from West Ham at the very least.
So I’m not sure why he was trying to play it cool on his podcast.
