Footballers, fans, pundits and fans alike rallied around Tomas Soucek last night.

The Hammers have appealed the decision to send the Czech ace off yesterday and we will soon find out whether common sense prevails.

It must be said though, Aleksandar Mitrovic is not blameless at all.

The Fulham ace when down far too easily and attracted unnecessary attention to the incident in the first place.

Michael Owen hits the nail on the head with Tomas Soucek incident

Mitrovic gave Mike Dean a decision to make. And that is the worst thing you can do when it comes to that particular referee.

Michael Owen took to Twitter and suggested that some blame must be laid at the feet of the Fulham striker…

Michael Owen is absolutely spot on here. Mitrovic asking Mike Dean not to send Soucek off after the incident means very little.

He chose to go down in the moment and that proved to be costly for the Czech ace.

Fingers crossed that the decision gets rescinded because it absolutely should be.

Mitrovic’s role in the incident should not be overlooked. And well done to Michael Owen for highlighting that.
