West Ham United could be set to miss out on talented young left-back Destiny Udogie to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
That’s according to highly-respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio who claims that Tottenham are pressing hard to sign the 19-year-old defender.
Di Marzio suggests that Tottenham will have to pay around €25 million (£21 million) for Udogie this summer.
West Ham manager David Moyes is keen to bring the young Italian to the London Stadium this summer according to a report from Football Italia. Tottenham appear to be far more advanced in their pursuit of the Udinese ace, however.
It seems as though Tottenham will be a real problem for us this summer though…
Tottenham lead West Ham in race to sign Destiny Udogie
According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, Spurs boss Antonio Conte is pushing really hard to bring the 19-year-old left-back to north London this summer.
Missing out on Udogie to Tottenham would be a massive blow for West Ham, he really is a top-class player with so much potential.
We think that the young Italian would be a truly exceptional addition for the Hammers. He has everything that we need. The teenager would certainly be a very big upgrade on Aaron Cresswell but it seems as though Tottenham re currently in pole position to sign him.
He has ‘devastating crossing ability’ and is absolutely rapid according to Italian football website Cult of Calcio.
Udogie enjoyed a really successful campaign with Udinese last season, bagging five goals and three assists in 35 Serie A outings (Transfermarkt).
Not bad numbers for a left-back!
The Udinese starlet is powerful, energetic and possesses all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old has the potential to go on and become one of the very best left-backs in world football.
He plays with impressive maturity and poise for someone so young as well.
If West Ham sign the teenager for just £21 million this summer, we believe that would be a sensational deal for the East London outfit.
Tottenham seem to be far better placed to sign Destiny Udogie than West Ham are. And that should be a big concern for the Hammers.
