Major Aaron Wan-Bissaka U-turn surely means West Ham transfer is only a matter of time

The potential transfer of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United to West Ham has just taken a major turn.

Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been a transfer target for West Ham for quite some time now, most recently just earlier this week.

Former Hammers boss David Moyes failed to bring him to the London Stadium in January, and now Julen Lopetegui seems to be determined to succeed where his predecessor failed.

The West Ham head coach needs to strengthen his right full-back position this summer, and make a big upgrade on Vladimir Coufal.

I believe Wan-Bissaka would be a stunning addition top Lopetegui’s ranks at West Ham – he has everything we currently lack in the right-back department.

The pacy defender joined Man United from Crystal Palace for around £50 million in 2019, but Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is apparently now prepared to let him leave Old Trafford.

He is arguably the very best man to man defender in the Premier League, and is an exceptional tackler – his recovery pace is vital for a team who likes to employ a high-press.

Wan-Bissaka has been described as an ‘explosive’ player by the The Athletic. He’s not the best going forward, but he can definitely still work on that and improve.

There’s no two ways about it, he’d be a sensational addition for the Hammers, and now it seems like he could well be London Stadium bound…

Big Aaron Wan-Bissaka twist means West Ham transfer is on

The 26-year-old has failed to hit the heights that were expected of him after moving to Old Trafford five years ago.

However, that doesn’t mean that he’s not an elite player. A lot of top-class stars fail to shine after joining Manchester United, but then go on and enjoy successful careers elsewhere Angel Di Maria, Daniel James and Alexis Sanchez can all attest to that.

That said, Wan-Bissaka has hardly been a failure with Man United – just slightly underwhelming at times.

Now, his time at Old Trafford could be coming to an end, because there’s just been a big twist.

Back in August 2023, it was claimed that Wan-Bissaka wanted to stay at Man United, and improve his attacking output in order to impress Erik ten Hag (ESPN).

However, he’s now made a complete U-turn it seems.

Man United news website Stretty News claims that the 26-year-old right-back is keen to move back to London this summer.

Surely that means that a transfer to West Ham is on in a very big way.

Manchester United are said to be demanding just £17 million for the former Crystal Palace man this summer (Goal) – an absolute steal in this day and age.

West Ham cannot hesitate to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka after the latest update about his desire to move back to the Capital.

One thing’s for sure – the rapid right-back would be a major improvement on current Hammers right-back Coufal.

Let’s hope that Lopetegui, Steidten and the owners mange to get this one over the line.
