Long-linked West Ham United target Bradley Dack has been hit by a huge injury blow.

‘Pathetic and absurd’ Respected journalist launches West Ham diatribe over Moyes

West Ham were consistently linked with a move for Blackburn star Dack before the start of last season.

The likes of Birmingham Mail, Sportsmole and The Daily Mail claimed West Ham were willing to pay as much as £20m for the 27-year-old back in 2019.

And it is easy to see why West Ham wanted him.

Rovers star Dack has been long linked with a move to West Ham

Dack has been a revelation for Rovers, scoring nearly 30 goals and laying on 16 assists in the last two and a half seasons.

West Ham have not been linked with Dack since Moyes’s arrival at the club.

But the Scot will certainly be on the lookout for a new central midfielder this summer. West Ham have been extremely fortunate that both Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice have been mainstays for the entire season so far.

But beyond them there is little to no back-up besides West Ham’s ageing skipper Mark Noble.

Moyes actively looking to Championship for talent and needs a new midfielder but Dack faces long spell out

Moyes actively looks to the Championship for signings.

But if he or West Ham’s owners were considering revisiting the interest in Dack, a serious injury will no doubt put paid to that.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed Dack has injured his ACL and the former West Ham target will be out for the ‘foreseeable future’ (Blackburn website).

Now the midfield ace must visit a surgeon before discovering how long he is likely to be out for.

Dack actually suffered an ACL injury before West Ham tried to sign him too.

Moyes may well have been interested in Dack last year but he only returned from his last setback at the end of 2020.

Blackburn boss confirms blow

“We have confirmation that it’s anterior cruciate ligament damage, as expected,” Mowbray told the Blackburn website.

“He’s seeing the surgeon on Wednesday afternoon. We’re waiting on the swelling to go down and then the journey starts again for him, unfortunately…

“We know it’s ACL damage, the surgeon will look at the scans and discuss what he thinks the timeframe will be on it. He’s beat it before and he’ll beat it again.”
