Liverpool’s shock U-turn on Mohammed Kudus has triggered a fierce divide among West Ham fans with strong opinions on the player and the situation.
Any chance of Liverpool paying big to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham looked dead in the water this time last week.
As news emerged from Anfield that Mohamed Salah was signing a new two-year deal with the Reds, the consequences for West Ham and Kudus seemed clear.
The Hammers have made it clear sales are needed to raise money for signings this summer.
West Ham have spent heavily in recent years and claim they are at their limit for PSR.
As a result, the club are banking on selling the likes of Kudus for decent money to help fund Graham Potter’s rebuild.
When West Ham signed Kudus, they beat a number of clubs to do so.
After a scintillating debut season, where he provided 20 goals and assists and was a fundamental player for the Hammers, the Ghanaian has been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City and Saudi clubs.
Liverpool’s stunning U-turn on Hammers star Kudus
But that was when Salah’s exit looked possible.
Arne Slot had already admitted he is a big fan of Kudus, prior to West Ham’s defeat at Liverpool on Sunday.
Salah’s new deal looked to have put paid to any chances of that move.
That was clearly bad news for Kudus and West Ham given the club’s desperation for funds.
It presents a problem for the Hammers because Kudus’ poor performances have seen West Ham’s options for a sale dwindle.
Things have changed, though, it seems.

Now Liverpool’s stunning U-turn on Kudus has triggered a West Ham fan divide.
It seems West Ham’s faded star boy shone bright at just the right time.
Daily Mail journalist Dominic King claims Kudus made a “big impression” on Liverpool at the weekend.
He states their squad have been impressed by Kudus in the past and were raving to Arne Slot about the Hammers attacker again after a much-improved performance on Merseyside.
Liverpool players actually urged the club to sign Kudus before he joined West Ham, after he scored at Anfield for Ajax in the Champions League.
Both Reds boss Arne Slot and captain Virgil van Dijk both raved about Kudus after Liverpool beat West Ham 2-1.
Slot’s renewed interest in Kudus triggers West Ham fan divide
It’s now being claimed Liverpool have performed a U-turn and are back in for the Hammers star, with a number of players set to depart Anfield this summer.
Slot has pledged to ‘make this team very strong’ this summer having spent only £12m on Federico Chiesa heading into his first season.
But the renewed interest from the Reds has sparked a big debate among West Ham fans.
On one side Hammers supporters are saying they will be happy to ship Kudus out, with many claiming he only performs against top clubs in a bid to try and catch the eye – and a move away.
Others hope the club can keep the star Graham Potter claims is ‘world class’ for one more season.
The comments may be of interest to Liverpool supporters about the kind of player they would be getting.

‘Ill never give up on Kudus, he’s too unique’
One West Ham fan said: “I will never ever give up on him. He is simply too unique, too talented to not be one of the best.”
Another felt fans get too carried away when Kudus plays well, saying he simply had a good game, nothing more.
“Pre social media this would just mean ‘good game’,” the fan responded.
Another supporter feels Kudus often hampers West Ham, saying: “Needs to work on passing. Hampered us with his poor and slow releasing.”
However, one Hammers fans thinks the fans and club will seriously regret losing Kudus if he is sold to Liverpool.
“Said this since the start, people will really regret letting him go. Our fans want us to be a big club but are happy to let a world beating player go after one off season,” he said.
One fan pointed out it is not Kudus’ performances against the likes of the champions-elect which are concerning.
“He’s got the talent, but his performances against the likes of Liverpool aren’t the issue. It is the performances against the Southampton’s and Brentford’s of the world that are the problem.”
‘Kudus only performs against the better sides’
A fellow West Ham fan agreed, stating Kudus peacocks against potential suitors like Liverpool.
“Annoying thing is, he now only performs against the better sides. His last two good performances have been against Liverpool and Arsenal, he’s been toilet against the rest. Seems like shop window games.”
One supporter said he will be over the moon if Liverpool paid anything close to £80m to take Kudus off West Ham’s hands.
“Bad decision making, bad team ethic, bad work ethic. Good at dribbling. I hope we sell him for £80 million that would be lovely.”
Even supporters of other clubs got involved in the debate with one believes Kudus would thrive at West Ham in a proper setup.
“Doesn’t fit your current manager but he’s genuinely class if you get a proper LW, Bowen on the right and a proper striker him behind them would be a scary forward line.”
A Liverpool fan had his say too, revealing he was stunned by Kudus’ performance.
“I was at the game and was astonished by how good he is. Unbelievable player,” he said.
If Liverpool do want Kudus now, they won’t have to worry about competition from Arsenal.
Earlier his month Hammers News revealed Arsenal have now moved on from Kudus after the appointment of new sporting director Andrea Berta.
One club Slot will have to be wary of, though, is Premier League rivals Newcastle, who are said to be preparing a big money move for Kudus.
