Leeds ace Kalvin Phillips’s comments on Robin Koch highlight just how much of a blow it will be for the Whites to have him unavailable for Friday night’s clash with West Ham.
The 25-year-old told BBC Radio Leeds:
“Obviously Robin’s a massive miss. This season he has been unbelievable, especially in the last three, four games. He found it tough at the start, but I think he has grown into the team as if he has been here for years.”
West Ham striker Sebastien Haller should now be licking his lips for the game at Elland Road on Friday night.
Koch has won just under three aerial duals per game in 11 Premier League appearances for Leeds this season (Who Scored).
The German has proved to be a vital player for Marcelo Bielsa. The Argentine will now have to find an internal solution, however, as Koch undergoes knee surgery.
And Leeds not having the 24-year-old available will undoubtedly be a huge boost for West Ham.
The Hammers players will be desperate to bounce back after their disappointing 3-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.
A trip to Elland Road represents a very tricky task for West Ham, however. Leeds play some scintillating football and David Moyes’s side will need to be on top form if we are to have any chance whatsoever of leaving west Yorkshire with maximum points.
Koch being out injured will help us do just that, however. And Kalvin Phillips’ comments on his teammate highlight that fact.
