Niclas Fullkrug will soon be announced as a West Ham United player, after signing his contract to join us from Borussia Dortmund.

West Ham have paid in excess of £22 million for Niclas Fullkrug, after the Borussia Dortmund hitman travelled to London via a private jet to complete his medical yesterday.

The 31-year-old is well-versed in leading the line on his own for both club and country, and should be a hugely beneficial signing for Julen Lopetegui.

The Hammers head coach desperately needed to sign a proven striker this summer, and he has succeed in that mission.

Fullkrug is a proven goalscorer at the very highest level after all, and his game seems to be tailor made for the Premier League.

He was in fine form for Borussia Dortmund last summer, and racked up 15 goals and 10 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions.

I have no doubts that he’ll end up being a great signing for us. But could there be more attacking reinforcements en route to East London as well?

So with the announcement for the Fullkrug signing expected later today, where will Lopetegui turn his attention to next?

The Spaniard is in the midst of building a really fearsome squad of players at the London Stadium.

However, we all know that the addition of another centre-back is needed if we are to really kick on.

That said, the signing of yet another centre-forward could be on the cards as well.

According to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, West Ham haven’t entirely given up on signing Jhon Duran from Aston Villa this summer.

That’s in spite of the imminent arrival of Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund.

Crook said, “They’ve not completely given up on Jhon Duran at Aston Villa either despite that fact that so far they have not been able to agree a fee, so keep an eye on that one.”

I’m over the moon with the signing of Fullkrug, but to bring in Duran alongside the 31-year-old really would be a stunning move from the Hammers.

The Germany international is the finished article, whilst the Aston Villa hitman is still incredibly raw, but with huge potential.

Duran could learn so much from Fullkrug but let’s be real here, the likelihood of both forwards moving to the London Stadium this summer is slim to none.

We’ve repeatedly been told by those high up at West Ham that it will be one or the other when it comes to Niclas Fullkrug and Jhon Duran.

I don’t expect us to sign the Colombian as well as the German this summer. Maybe we’ll try again next year for Duran.
