Joe Cole has suggested that every top European club will be looking to sign West Ham United ace Declan Rice in the summer transfer window, apart from Real Madrid.

When speaking to The Daily Mail, Cole raved about Rice and touted him for a big move away from West Ham at the end of the season.

It has been claimed that it will take at least £120 million to prise the 24-year-old midfielder away from West Ham in the summer.

The Hammers haven’t been able to match Dec’s ambitions over the past six months, and David Moyes will undoubtedly be forced into moving him on from the London Stadium before the start of next season.

Rice has been heavily linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and even Real Madrid (talkSPORT).

And ex-Hammer Joe Cole has had his say on the matter…

Joe Cole makes sense with Declan Rice claim

The 41-year-old has been speaking to the Daily Mail about Declan Rice’s future.

And Cole highlighted how Real Madrid are probably the only club in world football who actually don’t need to sign the 39-capped England international:

“The only club I’d probably rule out is maybe Real Madrid because of Kroos, Modric, Valverde, Tchouameni and Camavinga… but every other club needs a midfielder and Rice is as good as anyone. I’ve been in Rice’s shoes. You’re fighting, you’re fighting and you’re fighting for your club and you want to win trophies and then you speak to your mates in the England squad and it can be frustrating. I’m sure Declan would love West Ham to be challenging for the Champions League places and for there to be a new plan with a new owner, but he’s got a decision to make at the end of the season.”

I mean, Rice could still easily play for Real Madrid, but Cole is right – they just have too many top quality central midfielders at the Santiago Bernabeu, so they will probably spend their funds on strengthening other areas of the pitch.

The one thing that we can all be sure about is the fact that Declan Rice will leave West Ham in the summer transfer window, and as Joe Cole rightly said, he will have his pick of clubs to choose from.

Most of us have accepted that that will be the case now.

And the most important thing for Moyes and West Ham is to ensure that we have the perfect replacement already lined up for Rice.
