A myth doing the rounds about the situation surrounding Jarrod Bowen’s future at West Ham has been firmly put to bed as the skipper looks set to stay at the club.

It was inevitable Jarrod Bowen would be the subject of intense speculation when West Ham were relegated from the Premier League.

By rights, West Ham’s Prague hero is too good for the Championship.

But he turns 30 next season and can cement his West Ham legend status by staying at the club and leading them back to the Premier League.

Bowen staying as West Ham squad disharmony denied

If Bowen does that he will give himself the chance of then becoming the club’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer – an honour he fully deserves.

There has been claim and counterclaim about Bowen’s future with half the clubs in the top flight being credited with an interest in his services from Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool to Everton and Aston Villa.

How do you think Tuchel is feeling about omitting Jarrod Bowen NOW?

Two days after relegation was confirmed, Hammers News exclusively revealed West Ham were hopeful of retaining both Nuno Espirito Santo and Bowen in the Championship.

As revealed in our report, West Ham believed Bowen would stay – especially as he does not have a relegation clause in his contract which would see his £150k per week wages halved – like most players.

Daniel Kretinsky has made it clear West Ham are under no pressure to sell players for financial reasons.

Given the winger’s father-in-law Danny Dyer has revealed Bowen has told West Ham he wants to stay, rumours of moves away make little sense.

That does not stop mischief-making rumours doing the rounds, though.

Now a big Bowen West Ham myth has been firmly put to bed as the skipper looks set to stay.

Bowen’s West Ham teammates have no issue with his wages

A journalist from The Sun and the likes of Sky Sports have suggested Bowen staying on full wages is putting West Ham’s squad harmony at risk.

It has been claimed Bowen is the only player in the Hammers squad whose wages will not be reduced by 50 per cent due to relegation.

But not only does Bowen look set to stay and try to lead West Ham back to the big time, his doing so will boost squad harmony not damage it according to a top club source.

Hammers News put it to a leading source inside West Ham whether there was any truth to claims other players will be upset if Bowen remains on full wages.

The response was emphatic in debunking that particular myth.

“That is one of those two plus two equals five rumours to be honest,” the leading source told Hammers News.

“For a start, Jarrod staying makes it much more likely the other players will get back to the Premier League – where their wages will return to normal.

“Secondly, the players love Jarrod and realise he was carrying many of them on his back for much of the last couple of seasons.

“Some fans don’t see him as captain material but his teammates love him and would all agree if anyone deserves not to have their pay docked it is him. Jarrod staying, which the club are confident will happen, will only help team spirit not hurt it. It is a lazy, ridiculous assertion to be frank.”
