James Ward-Prowse twist after Everton made late deadline day move for West Ham star

West Ham United midfielder James Ward-Prowse is closing in on a deal to sign for Nottingham Forest.

James Ward-Prowse only joined West Ham from Southampton 12 months ago, but he’s already set to leave the London Stadium.

The 29-year-old is currently undergoing a medical at the City Ground ahead of a move to Nottingham Forest.

Moving the former Saints man on will be vital to Julen Lopetegui’s hopes of bringing in one or two more players before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

We’ve been told over and over again that the Spaniard will have to get rid of some of the fringe players first, before he can even think about bringing in any more new faces.

Now it seems like Lopetegui has been successful in doing that, he will be able to strengthen his ranks even further still.

However, it seems like there was nearly a late twist with Ward-Prowse.

James Ward-Prowse twist emerges

So whilst the former Southampton midfielder is all set to join Forest, it appears as though there could have been a late twist.

According to Give Me Sport, Everton made a late attempt to sign Ward-Prowse before he opted to join Nottingham Forest instead.

James Ward-Prowse is now set to join Forest from West Ham on a season-long loan deal.

Everton are crying out for someone with Ward-Prowse’s work-rate, but they’ll have to make do without him now.

I don’t really care where he ends up, but moving him on before the transfer window slams shut was absolutely crucial.

Carlos Soler in, James Ward-Prowse out great business

The Spaniard is on another level entirely to the 29-year-old Hammer, what with his incredible technical ability, movement, and creativity inside the final third.

Ward-Prowse offered very little for the Hammers aside from his ability from set-pieces.

He has been described as a traffic cone, due to his lack of mobiltiy, physicality or movement.

The harsh reality of the matter is that the 29-year-old simply isn’t suited to Julen Lopetegui’s system.

West Ham have moved on since we signed James Ward-Prowse, and I wish him all the best during his loan spell with Forest, medical pending of course.
