West Ham United boss David Moyes may well have made a major error ahead of tonight’s clash with Tottenham.
So what on earth was he thinking? David Moyes has endured plenty of stick from the West Ham fans this season due to the turgid football on offer at the London Stadium, and things could get a whole lot worse for him if we lose to Tottenham tonight.
The Hammers were woeful in our last Premier League outing at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday, and we’ll have to be a lot better tonight if we’re going to pick up a positive result.
The main problem facing Moyes is the absence of Michail Antonio – the Scot ruled the 33-year-old out of tonight’s game when speaking to the press yesterday.
That means that Danny Ings and Jarrod Bowen are his only real options through the middle. What about Divin Mubama I hear you cry….
Well Moyes has made a massive mistake with the 19-year-old as far as I’m concerned…

Moyes error ahead of Tottenham vs West Ham was quite ridiculous
Mubama played the full 90 minutes for the under-21s against Colchester United in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday night.
Quite why the 19-year-old was allowed to feature in that match with our game against Tottenham coming just two days later is anyone’s guess.
Moyes must have known that Antonio wouldn’t be ready for tonight before the under-21s played Colchester on Tuesday.
And now we will be left extremely short up front. Bowen seems to be lost when playing centrally to me, and is far more effective when deployed out on the right wing.
Meanwhile, I don’t want to see Ings anywhere near Moyes’s team ever again. He’s not good enough and just doesn’t put in the effort that I expect from someone wearing the famous claret and blue.
What all of this does do, is highlight our desperate need for a new striker, and hopefully Moyes addresses that in the January transfer window.
Still though, Moyes could have made it easier on himself in the here and now by having Divin Mubama available for the Tottenham vs West Ham clash.
Sure, the 19-year-old might still feature on the bench but he won’t be in tip-top shape, having played 90 minutes just 48 hours ago. A really strange move from Moyes this one was.
