Carlton Cole raved about Maxwel Cornet after West Ham beat Silkeborg 3-2 in the UEFA Europa Conference League last night.
The Hammers made hard work of it against the Danes, but in the end, we got the win and three points – that was all that mattered really.

There were plenty of reasons for the West Ham fans and David Moyes to be concerned. However, there were a couple of positives as well, one of which being the performance of Maxwel Cornet.
The 25-year-old moved to the London Stadium from Burnley in the summer for around £17.5 million. He has already shown us glimpses of what he’s capable of.

Last night, Cornet was brilliant and never stopped harassing Silkeborg’s backline.
He received plenty of praise from fans and pundits alike…

The Ivory Coast international bagged an assist last night and won the penalty that Manuel Lanzini subsequently converted to get us back in the game.
Carlton Cole was a guest in the BT Sport studio last night (Thursday September 15th, 8:54pm), and praised Cornet for his role in our second goal:

“I love Cornet. This is where I love him because he gets into that position and gives the ball to Scamacca and you knew he’d score.”
Hopefully we will now start seeing the best of Cornet on a regular basis.
The 25-year-old offers David Moyes something that he doesn’t otherwise possess.
And his relentless performance for West Ham against Silkeborg last night was further evidence that we have a very good player on our hands.
