There has been huge rail strike news for West Ham fans ahead of the game against Blackburn Rovers in Carabao Cup in midweek.

West Ham have three home games at the London Stadium in a week starting with Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The Hammers then welcome Blackburn in the League Cup on Wednesday night before entertaining Leicester City next weekend in the last match before the World Cup break.

With West Ham playing less Saturday games than any other club in the Premier League over the last two seasons due to their involvement and success in Europe, travel to and from matches has been far from easy.

Throw in industrial action impacting train services this season and it has often been nigh on impossible for some of the Hammers faithful.

Now there has been huge rail strike news for West Ham fans ahead of the game against Blackburn Rovers in Carabao Cup.

And it is good news for supporters attending both today’s game against Palace and particularly the midweek evening clash against Championship promotion hopefuls Blackburn.

Rail strikes had been due to take place from yesterday (Saturday), causing travel misery across the UK network.

Wednesday November 9th was due to be one the days unions had announced for strike action over pay and working conditions.

But fans attending West Ham’s match against Blackburn that evening will be delighted to hear the strikes, which were also due to take place yesterday and tomorrow (Monday) have been called off, the Rail Maritime and Transport Union has announced.

The union said the strikes have been suspended after it secured “intensive negotiations” with rail bosses.

That should mean services are running as normal for supporters attending the match and any it will have also averted any potential domino effect on travel for fans attending West Ham vs Palace at the London Stadium today (Sunday).

West Ham vs Crystal Palace kicks off at 2pm on Sunday while the Hammers’ clash with Blackburn in the Carabao Cup is at 7.45pm on Wednesday.
