There has been a huge Kurt Zouma development for West Ham ahead of crucial home double header as picture emerges.

Anyone who thought West Ham might not miss Kurt Zouma too much got a wake-up call in the 3-2 defeat at Brentford.

The Hammers captain was not in the squad for the memorable Carabao Cup win over a weakened Arsenal team last week.

And, given Zouma’s history of serious knee injuries, there were fears among West Ham fans that he could be set for an extended spell out.

David Moyes was reluctant to go into much detail about Zouma’s injury. But he was not in the squad for the hugely disappointing defeat at Brentford where both Nayef Aguerd and Konstantinos Mavropanos failed to cover themselves in glory.

At the weekend we reported on Hammers News that Zouma may not play at Brentford but there was good news after those concerns.

The man with the middle name ‘Happy’ was all smiles as a picture published by West Ham today shows him taking part in full training at Rush Green.

Zouma is seen in his training kit and bib out on the pitch laughing with teammates Edson Alvarez, Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma, Alphonse Areola and Aguerd.

So he looks almost certain to return to the squad for two very important matches ahead of the international break.

West Ham play Olympiacos at the London Stadium on Thursday night in what is a massive game for their Europa League last 16 hopes following defeat in Greece last time out.

The Hammers then welcome Nottingham Forest to east London.

And Moyes’ side must get back to winning ways in the Premier League following three straight defeats and just one victory in their last seven.

So having Zouma back is just the boost the Hammers – and Moyes – need.
