Manchester United star Scott McTominay appears to be a firm transfer target for West Ham United this summer.

Scott McTominay has been on the West Ham radar for years now, most recently just yesterday, and this summer could be the time when he finally moves to the London Stadium.

Julen Lopetegui is said to be eyeing up the signing of a new central midfielder this summer, after the hamstring injury picked up by Edson Alvarez.

The Hammers head coach has a lot of work to do this summer, with so many new signings required before the start of the 2024/25 season.

Because there are so many positions in urgent need of attention at West Ham, the central midfield department has kind of been forgotten about.

Don’t get it twisted though – the addition of a Premier League proven midfield powerhouse will be a necessity, if Lopetegui is to guide us back to European football.

And the Spaniard is clearly thinking along similar lines…

So the 27-year-old Man United man is at the centre of a fierce battle for his signature it seems.

According to a report from Yeni Akit West Ham are battling Galatasaray for the Manchester United midfielder this summer.

The 52-capped Scotland international has been a really reliable performer for Man United throughout the years.

I think he’d be the perfect summer signing for the Hammers, and I’m really hoping that we manage to beat Galatasaray to his signature.

Surely McTominay will favour a move to West Ham over Galatasaray, and if he does remain in the Premier League with us, he’d balance out our midfield perfectly.

With his unbelievable energy levels, athleticism and stamina, he’d be the ideal accompaniment to Edson Alvarez, with the Mexican sitting just in front of the back four.

The Man United star could perform the box-to-box role for the Hammers, and Lucas Paqueta could then play as our number 10, if he’s still playing for us of course.

Alvarez, McTominay and Paqueta would be a match made in heaven. Each player’s qualities compliment the others’ perfectly.

Hopefully we’ll be able to pick McTominay up for a decent fee this summer, because he would take us to the next level.
