Luca Pellegrini rejected a move to West Ham from Juventus on transfer deadline day according to a report from Il Bianconero.
Hammers boss David Moyes was clearly keen to add a left-back to his ranks at the London Stadium before the transfer window slammed shut.
West Ham were confident of pushing through a loan deal to sign Juventus left-back Luca Pellegrini on deadline day according to a report from Tuttosport.
Unfortunately, the Hammers ended up missing out on the 22-year-old defender.
At the time, it was thought that Moyes chose to spend his cash elsewhere. It seems as though that was not the case, however.
Luca Pellegrini rejected West Ham
The Italian opted against moving to the London Stadium because he wanted to stay and fight for his place in Turin.
Pellegrini would have been an excellent addition for West Ham.
The 22-year-old joined Juventus from Roma in 2019 for around £18.6 million (SI Soccer).
Pellegrini has bags of pace, is an able defender and offers a lot going forward as well.
He spent the last two seasons on loan with Genoa and Cagliari respectively and impressed with both teams.
He would provide stiff competition and adequate cover for Aaron Cresswell at West Ham.
It remains to be seen whether he will prove himself at Juventus and nail down a regular starting spot.
Here’s a glimpse of what West Ham missed out on:
Perhaps if he fails to do just that, West Ham will go back in for Pellegrini in the summer.
