The Freiburg banner and dress code explained as West Ham cruise into the last 16 of the Europa League with a 2-0 win.
Despite the obvious exception of Franfurt taking things too far, West Ham fans have been impressed by German fans during their European adventures.
And Freiburg supporters maintained that excellent reputation when they came to the London Stadium on Thursday night.
The Germans sold out the away end and chanted non-stop for the crunch Europa League clash. Even as they watched their side easily beaten by West Ham with goals from Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez.

Freiburg banner and dress code explained
But some West Ham fans have been left scratching their heads at what they saw in the away end.
So here’s that Freiburg banner and dress code explained as West Ham cruise into last 16.
If there is one thing German football fans hate, it’s UEFA.
During the reverse fixture – which Hammers fans were banned from attending by UEFA – Freiburg fans unfurled a banner criticising the decision.
German supporters are famed for their giant tifo displays in stadiums. A tifo is when the fans of a team make a visual display of a choreographed flag, sign or banner in the stands.

It’ll be all white on the night
UEFA has banned tifos and Freiburg fans held up a banner at West Ham in a protest on the matter.
It read: “F— TIFO BAN”.
The hardcore travelling support also coordinated their clothing for the game.
The team plays in a white away strip and the fans wore all white too as they came to West Ham.
It certainly looked effective.
West Ham fans watched as the away supporters jumped up and down in synchronised waves too.
But the best moment of the night from the Freiburg fans was probably their rendition of Wham classic Last Christmas, which you can see in the post below.
