Armstrong Okoflex’s strange absence continues at West Ham United, and questions have to be asked as to whether he’s good enough to play at the highest level.

West Ham signed Armstrong Okoflex from Celtic in the summer of 2021, and he arrived at the London Stadium with a big reputation as a supremely talented young player.

Since then though, he has only been given nine minutes of competitive action at senior level for West Ham under David Moyes.

That is in spite of really impressing during some of our pre-season friendlies.

The 20-year-old Hammers winger was sent out on loan to Swansea City in the summer of 2022, but he made a premature return to East London in January.

But what on earth is happening with the Dublin-born winger now?

Armstrong Okoflex’s strange absence continues at West Ham

Since Okoflex returned to the London Stadium from his loan spell with Swansea, he hasn’t featured for the first-team.

That doesn’t bode well for the 20-year-old one little bit considering the fact that we lack any kind of pace in the wide areas at the moment, with Maxwel Cornet having been out injured since October.

Perhaps even more damning for Okoflex is the fact that he has played only 12 minutes for the under-21s since returning to West Ham.

He is either struggling with fitness or has regressed badly over the past 12 months. Either way, it’s not looking good for the ex-Celtic ace.

I’m still holding out a lot of hope for the young forward. Everything time I have seen him play for West Ham’s youth teams and during pre-season friendlies for the senior team, he has really impressed me.

As Armstrong Okoflex’s strange absence continues at West Ham, questions will be asked as to whether he has what it takes to make it at the very highest level. I’m keeping the faith, and it will be interesting to see whether he is included regularly in the under-21 starting XI between now and the end of the season.
