West Ham United manager David Moyes was clearly very unhappy after our 1-0 Europa League defeat to Freiburg.
Freiburg beat West Ham in the Europa League last night, and David Moyes will be waking up this morning thinking that his side really should have beaten them.
It was a really poor performance from the Hammers, with the likes of Kurt Zouma just nowhere near their best against the Bundesliga side out in Germany.
However, it was West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez who incurred the wrath of David Moyes after the match.
The 26-year-old has been in superb form for the Hammers this season, and he put in a stunning performance last time out against Everton.
However, Moyes clearly pointed the finger of blame at the Mexico international for our defeat last night…

Moyes says one West Ham player did something terrible against Freiburg
The Hammers boss addressed the media after last night’s Europa League match out in Germany.
And Moyes admitted that he was really unhappy with one specific action of one of his players just before Freiburg scored, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“We were trying to make sure we gave ourselves a really good result here to go back to London Stadium and I thought for long periods it was going to be that way. But we turned the ball over terribly for the goal when really we hadn’t given them too many opportunities in the second half.”
Well, it was Alvarez who gave the ball away with a really sloppy pass in the build up to Freiburg’s goal last night.
So it’s clear to see that Moyes was talking about the former Ajax star when speaking to the media last night.
As mentioned earlier, Alvarez has been absolutely brilliant for us this season, and he is undoubtedly now one of the very first names on Moyes’s team-sheet.
However, he has to cut out the silly mistakes like the one he made last night if he is to go on and become a truly elite midfielder. West Ham would have got a draw against Freiburg had Alvarez been more composed in possession last night, and Moyes knows it.
