David Moyes says he wants to send a star touted as West Ham’s Declan Rice replacement out on loan despite impressive Freddie Potts displays.
West Ham have a big Declan Rice-shaped hole to fill in their midfield next season.
David Moyes and David Sullivan have both publicly stated their intention to sign two midfielders to replace the hybrid, generational talent that is Rice.
So it is no surprise that West Ham are being linked with all and sundry in the summer transfer window.
Many have suggested one of the answers may be right under Moyes’ nose, though.
In the shape of a certain Freddie Potts.

David Moyes says he wants to send star touted as West Ham’s Declan Rice replacement out on loan despite impressive Freddie Potts displays
The 19-year-old son of Hammers legend Steve, Potts has impressed when given cameos in the first team over the last couple of seasons.
Indeed everyone was saying the same thing about Potts when he has deputised for the departed skipper – he looks, plays and carries himself just like Rice.
Some sites with links to the West Ham board have suggested Potts will be considered as a replacement for Rice in the first team this season.
But that looks highly unlikely based on what Moyes has said about the midfielder.
Speaking after the pre-season matches in Australia, where Potts has really caught the eye, Moyes has given a hint at what next season holds for the starlet.

Loan spell will give Potts the experience and extra physicality he needs
Moyes says he wants to send the star touted as a Rice replacement out on loan despite impressive Potts displays.
Potts has been enjoying pre-season and told the club site he wants to push for a first team spot.
But the same article reiterates Moyes’ plan.
“Manager Moyes revealed (Potts) could go out on loan to gain more senior experience this season,” the site states.
Potts could benefit greatly from a spell out on loan and probably needs to build himself up physically a touch to compete at the highest level.
But he has all the quality and tenacious style needed to be a real player in midfield once he gains that experience.
Moyes’ plan to send Potts on loan also explains the push for a host of reported transfer targets at the moment including Joao Palhinha, Conor Gallagher, Youssouf Fofana and others.
