West Ham United manager David Moyes needs to find a way of getting the best out of Maxwel Cornet.
David Moyes brought Maxwel Cornet to West Ham from Burnley in the summer of 2022 for around £17.5 million, but the winger has failed to establish himself at the club.
The Hammers boss has received heavy criticism recently for his treatment of the 27-year-old, and the way that he refuses to give him a run of games.
Cornet scored during one of his rare starts away at Sheffield United last month but was then dropped down to the bench for our next game by Moyes.
The Ivorian must be completely unmotivated, and given Moyes’s lack of attacking options right now, the onus is on the gaffer to change all of that.
But what can the 60-year-old do? I have an idea…

David Moyes needs to send simple message to Maxwel Cornet
I truly believe that the Scot needs to show the Ivory Coast international some much-needed love and support right now.
Moyes needs to sit Cornet down and give him the following simple message:
“I’m going to give you five starts in a row, show me what you can do.”
It’s time for Cornet to be given a proper chance and who knows…he might just surprise a few people.
Listen, West Ham have a real shortage of left wingers at the club, after allowing Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals to leave the club in January.
Lucas Paqueta can play there, and hopefully he’ll be back to action soon. However, I would love Moyes to move him back into the number 10 position where he can really make an impact on games.
This would of course free up the left wing position, and Cornet should at least be given a chance to show us all what he can do.
The 27-year-old has been given just 932 minutes of action since he joined the club 18 months ago, and only 312 minutes this season (Transfermarkt).
On the most part, David Moyes gives Maxwel Cornet a few minutes here or there, and it must be impossible for the Ivorian to find any kind of rhythm.
It’s on the Scot to change all of that. Give Maxi a chance, and a consistent run of starts and if he still fails to impress then move him on in the summer. I still think there is a player in there somewhere, but we’ll never know unless he’s given a proper chance.
